Okay gaawwwd this debatably Luke's worst memory and without debate his most important one. It's the catalyst that completely transformed him from a self centered little snot into le jesus.
Some background!
Luke is REALLY TERRIBLE during this part of the game. It's a result of a lot of things! Like suddenly having an evil twin, his entire party keeping important secrets from him and talking over his head, being thrown into a position of responsibility he really isn't equipped for, and generally feeling super uncomfortable and WANTING ANSWERS and not getting them, and wanting to see Van because he trusts Van to at least tell him the truth.
That isn't an excuse for how MUCH of a snot he is, it's just how it went down. Then he arrives in Akzeriuth anddd really can't emotionally connect to the people that are dying there. It's a very young-ish problem, like seeing pictures of people starving in Haiti and having the reaction 'Okay yeah that is terrible but also it's gross and this is uncomfortable to look at'. It's also the fact that Luke has pre-emptively written off everyone else's efforts, because he KNOWS that once he finds Van and uses his hyperresonance on the miasma, he will be the hero and everyone will be fine! Thus there is no need for Natalia to touch anyone. Thus all these sick people aren't really in danger, because in his head the problem is already solved.
I'm explaining this to defend Luke's terrible reactions as ignorant but not malicious or heartless. But! Luke doesn't really get all of that from the memory. He mostly gets the part about how he knew he was going to fix it so there was no need to worry about it so he doesn't really process it right. In retrospect, he's horribly ashamed of his behavior.
Anyway, so he finds Van, and ignores Asch trying to tell hiim not to trust Van. Luke knows he did not put any thought into Asch's words AT ALL because he already didn't like or trust Asch.
He then proceeds to do exactly as he is told by Van, even pushing Ion into going along with it.
When Luke releases his hyperresonance he knows instantly that something is wrong but really doesn't understand what the fuck is going on. And then he passes out because lolo all of his internal energy just bounced into each other and then was released.
Note that from about 2:15 to 4:00 Luke is unconscious and doesn't see any of that happen.
Luke's pretttty much in shock until his outburst on the Tartarus. He listens to people and kind of begins to piece together what happened. But understandably "I did what my most trusted person told me to do in order to save a city, lost conscious, and woke up to find that entire city had collapsed, everyone has died, and I was completely betrayed by my most important person" isss a lot to process. He mostly feels physically sick and is cycling through the traumatic reality and trying to find some kind of lie that will make it more manageable.
Eventually he does! The lie of 'It's all Van's fault'. Note that the party does not ACCUSE HIM of being responsible, up until he is like I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG, IT WAS VAN!!! And then everyone (understandably) loses their temper with him. Notably, no one tells Luke it ISN'T his fault either, whiiich I think would be an expected response when someone who is amnesiac and rather stupid about the world was clearly tricked into doing a mind numbingly terrible thing by someone he loves. So really, the entire scene is sort of a cluster fuck of frustrated and upset feelings making shit worse. However! It's not unreasonable. Luke really needed to be punched in the face with a sense of responsibility. And if his party hadn't completely abandoned him, he might not have hit rock bottom, and might not have transformed into the person he becomes!

Learned/Effects:
-The purple air is the miasma, it's the same as what was killing everyone in a later memory
-Wow I......really sucked.....
-Something about a Seventh Fonstone ??
-Asch was really bad about being convincing...
-I really didn't question Van at all
-"Foolish replica Luke..."
-Van betrayed me, but even while I knew it was happening I couldn't quite believe it
-I didn't even see it happen, I just woke up and it was over...
-Everyone else died... We survived due to Tear's fonic hymns
--Tear never stops being amazing
-This place is the Qliphoth, the miasma comes from here, it's not just under Akzeriuth, but under the entire world.
-The Sephiroth pillars keep the 'Outer Lands' floating above the Qliphoth
--I destroyed one and Akzeriuth collapsed into the Qliphoth, destroying it
-The Sephiroth were created and used to raise the Outer Lands long ago to escape the miasma.
-Being rejected by your entire party because they have realized how much you suck is the worst feeling EVER
--Mieu 8((((((((
+A life time worth of sleeping difficulties
-All the self worth, all of it
