RUBY + OTHERS PSA
So Luke has SADDED HIMSELF INTO A COMA a la exactly what he does in canon. He will be unconscious and utterly unresponsive until probably sometime on Tuesday when I can afford the time to bring him back! I don't yet know if he's sleeping in Ruby or if Mukuro got cranky and locked him out...
He will KIND OF BE AROUND in the sense that he will be in Asch's head and stalking all of Asch's conversations and periodically commenting on them. So I imagine he will have Asch deliver a "I'm okay I just got stuck in Asch's body somehow" message to Ruby once. We play that out.

They are... surprisingly uncomplicated. Actually.
Dawn likes Liberty! He didn't think much of him one way or the other at first, other than that Liberty talked to him just to... talk, which made Dawn feel..happy. 8D; And so then after that, in the dying game. Granted, Dawn was REALLY LUCKY, cuz there are a bunch of people more important to him than Liberty, especially at that time. But they were all safe! So the only person he really knew that died was Liberty and he still felt very bad about that. So he went to sit with him and feel sad but Liberty was okay and Dawn was all really emotionally vulnerable at that time because. LOL EVERYTHING WAS TERRIBLE so. Just. Being able to tell someone he liked them and them liking him back was really important.
Uuh and then he really... Luke has a terrible sense of boundaries! Like he just... particularly as an amnesiac. He knows that things FEEL WEIRD sometimes but when he is in this mode of 'I am a tool and I was never meant to exist and my entire life was a lie and I have no value and I was used and thrown away by the most important in my life' he is just....so incredibly needy. So Kaworu touching him, making him blush, asking him questions and basically doing or wanting anything from him is absolutely find as long as you don't reject him 8D; At this point in his life, Luke will love anyone unconditionally as long as they want him for some reason.
Which isn't to say Luke doesn't genuinely like and care about Kaworu and want to help him for reasons not utterly dependent on ...needing to have value to someone. Buuuut that is mostly what is driving him at this point.
To be fair though, post-Akzeriuth Luke is like that for a long time and it never completely leaves him, though he does eventually become more healthy about it. Luke is just sooooo broken the ways he can interact with people is kind of limited because even if you have NO INTENTIONS TO USE HIM AT ALL he still kind of. Wants. To be used. Cuz he wants to be OF use!
Annnyyway. So basically anything Kaworu does is fine. The reason Luke looked at Kaworu's memory, the reason he lets Kaworu hang on him, the reason he doesn't mind Kaworu making him blush constantly, or kissing him, all ultimately ties back to "I will do whatever he wants as long as he likes me and doesn't reject me". BUT he also genuinely was curious about the memory, genuinely does like the... contact of being touched by someone else, and genuinely does have an eighteen year old boy's body and does like kissing. And while KISSING LUKE at this point in his emotional development is definitely taking advantage of him...Luke is in such a mental place right now where it's virtually impossible to NOT take advantage of him in some way and frankly BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF MAKES HIM FEEL BETTER CUZ HE HAS BEEN USEFUL \o/;; So idk keep it up Kaworu GG.

More specifically for Luke. . . Well, he was the first person Kaworu was interested in since his arrival at Aather. He knew Shinji was there, but the game was busy enough that he was unable to talk to him uuuuntil later. That momentarily drifted his attention away from Shinji and he poked Luke even after "teaching" him how to kiss. Kaworu didn't care at first, but Luke's reactions are always honest and he has a tendency to find people who blush and flail very funny and interesting. So he ended up wanting to talk more to him! It was sort of a popcorn.gif kind of deal to him, but at the same time, he actually found him interesting.
Nothing made a strong impression after that until Three's game and he had to die. Kaworu is . . . surprisingly okay with dying, he's not even upset by it. In fact, he thinks it makes sense his team got slaughtered. However, he was uneasy about his team dying in a way he can't understand. He was relieved when he learned Shinji and Cubia didn't play and then Luke was there when he was coming back to life. It confused Kaworu a lot, to say the least. Why would he be there? Why was he caring? Why did he look honestly sad? He couldn't get his head around it, but while it's still difficult for him to understand, that made him start to care about Luke.
Luke sharing his memory made Kaworu care more on some level, too, but he's not even aware of it. Kaworu isn't capable of empathy, exactly, but there was still something. And the reason Kaworu kissed him was because he was annoyed at the thought of Luke not caring about the kissing game or kissing him, but he doesn't get why. The reason is because Kaworu likes . . . the attention of those he ends up liking. He wants Shinji attention and he dislikes it when he doesn't get it, so it's the same thing here. He wanted Luke's attention and he likes doing things that will make him blush, SO HE KISSED HIM. But this time it was different! It was different because he felt something this time and Luke was kissing back, which was interesting and fun and he liked that.
In a way, Kaworu is completely unaware of what all of this means. He likes Luke and he's more aware of liking Luke, but FEELINGS ARE HARD and he doesn't even feel much yet, but he's going to keep doing things to get Luke's attention and maybe kiss him from time to time. He almost had the SPARK of a hormone in that second kiss, mostly because it was when he was more . . . human and less toppy and he focused more on those feelings he doesn't even fully understand. Kaworu doesn't link all this to romance or love or anything similar yet, but he considers Luke as a friend now. A friend who has never hated him or disliked him, too! It's strange and different and Kaworu is completely okay with that.
I'm exhausted, so I hope this is making sense. Another thing is that Kaworu doesn't even realize he's taking advantage of Luke! I don't think he ever will, to be honest. Same reason he never stopped touching and being all over Shinji in canon. He won't stop talking to Luke and I have no idea where this is going, but he honestly likes him.

Also just, in case it wasn't clear, taking advantage of Luke is totally ok 8D; I look at it in a sort of... idk it's interesting because it is SEXUAL and also not really totally okay in a social sense, but it's also one of those situations where it works fine. Luke DOES have hormones, lots of them!! But didn't even kiss someone in his entire...eight years of life. I don't think anyone ever game him The Talk and he was much like an 11 year old who know that like STUFF HAPPENS?? AND BOOBS ARE GREAT and not a lot beyond that. But he is very much a fully functioning eighteen year old and that yes his had hormones in allll of the kisses 8D; And he always will too cuz. Lol. yes.
SO IT'S NOT LIKE KAWORU IS DOING A BAD THING AND HE SHOULD FEEL BAD it's just. It's good while being the opposite of the ideal to... most people. Idk. But like I said, Luke doesn't really understand boundaries in a lot of ways and "SEXUAL THINGS ARE THINGS YOU DO WITH FULL COMPREHENSION OF WHAT IT MEANS AND WITH SOMEONE YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT AND NOT SOMETHING YOU DO SO SOMEONE WILL LIKE YOU" is not one of those things he understands oooor is bothered by!
I guess I should clarify that Kaworu is Luke's most important non-team and non-canonmate person. Which is to say. He trusts him a lot and wants to understand him more and help him more but I don't think... Luke really gets Kaworu. He doesn't know how to remove the 'feeling' equation from a person. So he doesn't get Kaworu much at all but he still really likes him and will always find him super important forever because Luke has like... MOST PEOPLE their feelings like... degrade with time. Luke's don't ever. Even if it's a very simple relationship. cuz yes that is how we jesii roll.

OH, NO. THE FIRST PART WAS CLEAR TO ME. |D I just wanted to comment on that because it's important and Kaworu is pretty much unsafe in that department. I got the impression you were totally okay with it since I know you're familiar with him, SO NO WORRIES THERE. I also find it really interesting myself, so. ♥
KAWORU MIGHT GET HORMONES BECAUSE OF LUKE, that's what surprised me the most.
And Kaworu is slowly caring about his team a bit, but there's not a strong sense of 'TEAM' for him and loyalty is still a strange word for him, but he works well with them anyway. So Luke is getting an important spot in his priorities now.
