3x3 Game Fallout
So some brief thoughts on the game and Luke!
Luke is not as ENTRENCHED in his selfish dickitude as he is in canon, because he doesn't have a lifetime of being a lordling who everyone bows to and is constantly taken care of behind him. Most of his dickitude in Aather is coming from emotional insecurity and being dumb. It's definitely MUCH WORSE if his mood is bad for some reason. Like when he first arrived! He was MAD because he had no memories and learned he had been kidnapped to save someone else's world \o/ what the biiiiiitch.
But he isn't CONSTANTLY cranky without reason. So he won't always be a bitch about everything.
In addition! It's important to note that Luke has no fighter memories yet, or any Van training memories. So he doesn't really associate strength with worth or acceptance, nor does he have a desire to prove his strength to anyone. This is why he let Souya protect him is generally kind of a pussy and not that ashamed of it.
Anyway! So IN THIS GAME, Luke got hurt and hurt a lot of other people. He REALLY DOES feel bad about Coral, because his plan was to take out the competition by dropping alot of points on them! And it... wooorrked... but he didn't think anyone was going to get hurt. In the second round, Jacuzzi wanted to defend only Coral in order to sort of undo some of what they did, but EVEN THEN Luke still wanted to prioritize Tiger's Eye, and only gave in because Souya told him Tiger's Eye had a lot of knights and they would be protected. And also because he is miserable and his decision making skills instantly went to shit.
BEING HURT bothers Luke considerably less than OTHER PEOPLE being hurt, both when it comes to his team and the teams they attacked. GENUINELY LOTS OF GUILT, but also fear! Because GUT WOUNDS SUCK, and a lot of (quickly repressed) gratitude to Souya who took a lot of damage on their behalf, even though Luke realizes he's been a dick to him.
Luke... never really faces this sort of situation in early canon. The thing about this game is everyone is equally guilty. Luke is NOT THAT BRIGHT but he still realizes the hated picking, and everyone else probably did too. So he can't really place blame, and Luke isn't naturally inclined toward grudges ANYWAY so he isn't mad at anyone but Three. But! He can very much SHIRK RESPONSIBILITY and after the initial lousy feelings of "aaa that sucked what did we do to poor Coral" he decided to defend himself (mentally) with the fact that they didn't have a choice, and if SOMEONE had to get wiped out, he's still glad it wasn't any of his friends. It doesn't reaaaally make him feel any better, but it allows him to justify his actions a bit too himself.
He will none-the-less guilty avoid Coral because that was pretty much entirely his decision and EVEN IF HE DOESN'T REALIZE IT he feels REALLY BAD.
However, this isn't a huge step toward jesusdom. His bitchiery is already returning, but it will be SUBDUED for a while, and directed a lot more heavily toward the Personae (specifically Three). It did anchor his feelings toward his team a lot better, and gave him more of a team mentality. Basically, even in future shitty games he STILL doesn't agree with Souya, and will not be making any choices of hurting his team over hurting other teams.
